2 Homemade Juices To Prevent Your Child From Experiencing Dry Mouth

Experiencing dry mouth from time to time can be normal. However, experiencing dry mouth for long periods of time can indicate that there is something wrong with your child's saliva production. Saliva makes it easier for children to chew and swallow. In addition, it wards off tooth decay. Without adequate saliva production, you may begin to notice an increase in bacteria and plaque in your child's mouth. Tooth decay that is left untreated can cause early tooth loss for small children. Luckily, there are a few homemade juices that you can give your child in order to solve their dry mouth problems.

Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera is commonly found in beauty and hair care products because of its ability to restore moisture to dry areas. The plant contains anti-inflammatory properties that are used to cleanse the body during a sickness. The majority of aloe vera is composed of water and it can easily be turned into a juice that your child can drink to prevent dry mouth. Aloe vera juice can be created by removing the gel from a fresh aloe vera plant. Place the gel in a blender along with a cup full of water. Allow the mixture to blend until it is completely smooth. Remove the mixture and pour it into a cup for your child to drink. This mixture can also function as a natural dental rinse. Instead of swallowing it, your child would just spit it out.

Apricot and Lemon Juice

The seed kernels in apricots are frequently used in beauty products because they have the ability to restore moisture to dry and dull skin. The apricots themselves contain a high water content, therefore, they can be used to rehydrate your body. Apricots can be an easy solution to your child's dry mouth issues. To create an apricot juice, remove the seeds and cut the flesh into small pieces. Place the pieces in a blender and add at least a cup of water. Add fresh lemon juice from half a lemon in order to balance out the sweetness of the apricot. Blend the mixture until it is smooth. Allow your child to drink this mixture daily in order to prevent and eliminate any dry mouth.

Dry mouth can be difficult to get rid of if you do not know the cause of it. If your child's dry mouth persists, then you should schedule an appointment with your child's dentist. Until then, use these homemade juices to help keep their dry mouth at bay.
